Metrocare Givers, a division of Tri-Borough Home Care, Ltd., is an approved provider of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) by the New York State Department of Health. CDPAP enables self-directing consumers to hire almost anyone that is legally allowed to work to be their caregiver, including most family members and friends.
CDPAP Benefits
The CDPAP gives consumers the control over their home care services. Consumers are more involved in their own plan of care. Consumers are given the responsibility to coordinate and manage their services by allowing them to hire, train, supervise and schedule their personal assistant.
CDPAP Eligibility
You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for CDPAP:
- 1. You must have Medicaid.
- 2. You must require home care.
- 3. You must be self-directing, or you must have a representative that can direct your care.
Advantages of CDPAP Home Care vs. Traditional Home Care:
- Close relatives such as children can get paid to provide care.
- No special certification or licensing for personal assistants required.
- Personal assistants can administer skilled services such as wound care, give insulin shots, and suctioning tracheostomies.
